Ann Wilson Solo Album out Today!

Hey Everyone-

I know there are a few Heart fanz out there on this board. Just in case you haven't heard about Ann's solo album yet, here is my spiel on it. (hope Cherie doesn't mind..)

The release date is very deliberate - 9/11/2007 - and meant to provoke thought and social consciousness. "Hope & Glory" includes one original, "Little Problems, Little Lies" about a U.s. soldier in Iraq while the rest of the tracks are covers from the greatest songwriters of our time (Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Neil Young, Roger Waters, Elton John, Page/Plant) who discuss some of the fallout of war... Ann has called this record a "refugee" album.

?Each of these songs holds a special place in my soul?At one time or another every one of them has kept me up at night to the point of exasperation and will not be banished, as I lay sleepless on my pillow. Such songs as these carry me through my life, and they are a standard to which all new music I hear and write must compare.?

Joined by a host of great singers - many from the Country music genre - the tracklist covers the decades. It's hard to say which is my favorite, I love Ann & k.d. lang's version of Lucinda William's "Jackson" and no one does Led Zeppelin like this woman but her take on John Lennon's "Isolation" is absolutely incredible! Heart has been playing that in concert the past month and just blowing audiences away. The full tracklist is below but here is a short list of artists Ann roped in to help out: Wynonna, Shawn Colvin, Deana Carter, Alison Krauss, Sir Elton himself, sister Nance and Gretchen Wilson who duets on a true country-fide version of "Bad Moon Rising." Ann Wilson is arguably the greatest rock singer ever, and certainly has weathered well compared to her peers, but hey, you be the judge. My guess is, if you pick yourself up a copy of Hope and Glory - you'll love it!
